Alerts
If this application had the ability to enter email addresses attached to location pins, then emergency alerts could be emailed to recipients. Perhaps a distance parameter could be entered as well to control alert generation as it relates to the proximity of a fire to a location pin.

Overlays of the CFA & RFS Regions/Districts
Could you add overlays of the each fire service's Regions and Total Fire Ban Districts. Maybe even highlighting areas of Total Fire Ban during that 24hr period on these overlays

sort fires by date
There should be a way to sort fires by date. You usually don't want information on fires that are older than, say a week, or two weeks (except for the occasional large fire that burns for weeks). In addition, sorting by "contained" or "controlled" would be nice. I have a feeling that it does some of this already, but it is invisible, and the user has no control.
On Dec. 12 the Sayer fire was listed, but after clicking on it, no data showed up. The "busy" icon kept spinning for several minutes. I refreshed, and after re-loading, the Sayer… more

Good Idea,
We are contemplating having a global – Date Filter that when applied , is applied to the whole map for all the data sources -
The zoom slider does not work
You can't zoom in or out by sliding the bar in the zoom control. You can only zoom one increment at at time by clicking the plus or minus buttons.

Add youtube videos as another data source
Youtube has an API. You could use this to also search for video of the fire locations.

Cycle overlapping pictures
When the mouse leaves the icon on the map (Flickr) - Move it to the bottom of the pile.. This way the next image will be on the top and moving the mouse over it will show it..
This mechanism would provide a way to cycle thru the images0 votes -
Change Mouse Left button down to Button Up
